Key lessons
The Vezouze river had a part of its floodplain restored to tackle flood events in a sustainable way and to favour water retention. Flood events are regular and often have bad consequences for the city nearby named Lunéville. The monitoring of the project shows that the improvement of biodiversity, as well as flood impacts decrease, are very satisfactory. Working on multi-thematic issues was a great motivation for policy-makers, as it allowed answering flood protection and security demands, and creating amenity spaces.
